Best Of The Mamas And The Papas

Romantic, soulful, melodic, harmonic, mystical.
These are only a few words that come to mind when I think of The Mamas And The Papas.

I have transferred the following five songs:

1. California Dreamin'
2. Monday Monday
3. I Saw Her Again Last Night
4. Creque Alley
5. Dream A Little Dream Of Me - Mama Cass

Again, I have to say that although California Dreamin' is their greatest hit and brings to me certain nostalgia, it's the other four songs on my list that I prefer.

Especially no4, Creque Alley. I first heard it on Mojo Radio. I instantly understood it was TMATP singing. After the second time I heard it I was in love with the song. The tune does something to me. And I love the lyrics at the end: "...and California Dreamin' is becoming a reality"

LISTEN TO IT: in a convertible car, American Highway, sunset, a breeze, your loved one by your side. Or that's where I feel I am when I listen to this album.

Yes, Marietta, in a convertible, driving along the Pacific coast in California. Perfect!

I will do that for you and report back.

I know that my sister and I always listen to good music, loud, when we drive down the coast from San Francisco to Monterey. It feels great!

Love the way you show albums on your blog.

Hugs,
Brina

Hi Marietta, Just watched you lovely film. Hope that you have recovered after Sunday and looking forward to the weekend. I'm a bit p**sed off as we will miss the Christmas ITA as we are going to a friends 40th birthday meal. Oh well, we'll have to watch the loop.
See ya!! Mark

Hi Marietta,

Hi Marietta,

Way cool post. I met Papa John when the Band consisted of Papa, Scott McKenzie, Mackenzie Phillips and Spanky McFarland just before he passed in 2001. Actually I was the solo opening act for them. He was way cool. Just a real guy. We had a few beers together and crab cakes after the gig in his trailer backstage. Gone but remembered fondly.

Workin' on making this a chat with lots of visitors. Since I agreed to host this chat I have been trying to organize a time and notifying fans everywhere. Hope it comes up soon so I can calculate a time that it will start on Sunday. A lot of fans out there for sure.

Maybe you could be my special guest mystery hostess? You know it is 4 hours long. Right? You could give me a little break.:) And you were there! Let me know what you think of the Idea?

I have invited Rachel to be our special guest on 3comments on her blog and she has not accepted or declined to stop by. If you were to host a portion of the chat you could invite her and be the influence needed to get her there. Sound like a plan?

Peace, love and light.

Hi Marietta,
have you ever driven down the coastal highway? It's one of the most beautiful, breathtaking drives you can ever take. San Fransciso down to Monterey, and then past to Ventura. Didn't have the convertible, but what an incredible view. And of course the Who playing on the car stereo.

Cheers,
AM

Hi Marietta

Went skiing today!
Yay!
We all had a great time.
Major leg burn...

I love the Mamas & the Papas. I had a cassette of theirs, but a friend "borrowed" it about 5 years ago.

Do you have a Christmas tree?

Love
Dale

Oh I love Monday Monday, I don't know what it is about it? You seem to always list the songs that I love, we should have a "song listening" chat, what do you say! Right now, I am listening to Joan Baez "Diamonds & Rust" I love it! Since I was a kid, & also listened to Bob S. a bit. I love "Turn the Page"...Hope that you are well:)

xx
